About Us

Mission Statement:
To have pets stay in their original homes for their entire life whenever possible, and to provide guidance when this is a challenge or no longer possible. This will be achieved by community education programs, Shelter Intervention Programs (SIPs), books, games for various ages, video games, interactive games for people and their pets and will include blogs, videos and vlogs.

Vision Statement:
To keep pets in their homes and lower the number of animals in all shelters and rescues to 20% within ten (10) years.

The mission of Its DogGone Awesome is to promote responsible pet ownership through books, games, pet toys and other items. It is the dream of the founder, Tammy Hayes, to decrease the number of animals in shelters and rescues down to 10% -20% of capacity by addressing the reasons that animals are entering the system within the next 10-15 years. This can be achieved by educational and awareness programs as well as programs set up to help those who are struggling with different issues that leads to relinquishment of the pets into the shelter system. It will also be active in encouraging recognition of the human-animal bond, and the benefits that the animals offer us, as this ties in with responsible pet ownership and the relationship that can be developed between people and their pets.

A non-profit fund will be set up from a percentage of all sales that will help address any financial needs that the community may need. This can include assistance with pet deposits, food banks, emergency or other medical care, or other costs as needed. It will also help those who may be struggling with maintaining a proper environment for their pet, such as a securely fenced yard for a dog, or a catio for a cat, or obtaining appropriate training for their pet. Other goals would be to reconstruct the shelters to places that are inviting and more friendly to the animals that are living there, such as tiny homes or cabins that will allow the pets to be in a more "homey" environment with less stress and fear development. Shelter workers would also benefit from this environment and could offer more community outreach programs to help further educate the citizens of responsible pet ownership.

With roots in the USA, this will also expand into Canada as necessary, with potential programs set up internationally over time. Those parties who may be interested in joining Its DogGone Awesome are welcome to contact us via the Contact page.
